Summertime in Republic is probably most residents’ favorite time of year… The weather is just right, hanging around 85 degrees on a “hot” day; the rivers and lakes are warming up, readying themselves for swimmers and fishers; and a bunch of fun festivals and activities are just around the corner!

In June, both Curlew (20 minutes from Republic) and Republic kick off the end of the school year with an outdoor festival. In Curlew, Barrel Derby Days, on June 5th, features the sending off of the barrel down the Kettle River. Locals place wagers on how long it will take the barrel to make its way from the Midway bridge to the bridge in Curlew. There is also a parade and fun games for the kids all day long. You can learn more about the event at FerryCounty.com.

Republic’s longstanding tradition of Prospectors’ Days will kick off on June 10th and continue through June 12th. Featuring vendors, live music, the famous “Prospectors Jail” and activities too numerous to list, Prospectors’ Days is fun for kids and adults alike. The parade will begin at noon on the 11th. For more information about all the events, visit their website.
