CITY OF REPUBLIC OCT. 15, 2007 REULAR MEETING

Those present: Mayor Shirley A. Couse. Council Members: Linda Hall, Dave Michel, DiAnne Hewitt, and Alex Wirt.

Guests Present were: Bruce McAuley and Brenda Starkey

Employees Present were: Casey Giddings.

Mayor Couse called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Council reviewed the October 1, 2007 minutes. Alex Wirt moved to approve the October 1, 2007 minutes with corrections. Dave Michel seconded; motion carried.

Public Works Director, Casey Giddings, asked for permission to purchase 20 yards of gravel at a cost of $344.32 to re-gravel Washington Street after replacing the water main on that street. DiAnne Hewitt motion to approve the expenditure, Dave Michel seconded, motion passed with Alex Wirt abstaining.

Mayor Couse tabled the selection for the ORV Committee until Jim Burnside could be at the meeting since he is a major part of this issue.

DiAnne Hewitt motioned to allow Tony Hall, Building Inspector to attend the WABO Code Training taking place in Pullman on the 25th of October, Alex Wirt seconded, motioned passed.

Dave Michel gave an update on the playground equipment project. Weather permitting they are hoping to get the swings in before winter. There still will be funds left to purchase additional equipment in the spring. Again, Dave said the committee would appreciate any future donations for the playground equipment project.

Alex Wirt gave an update on the historical video project that he is working on. He was able to get in touch with a few of the local historians, Fred Bremner, Dick Slagle, Rowdy Bremner and Hugh Maycumber to help with the project.

DiAnne Hewitt motion to approve payroll checks #102728-102735 in the amount of $3,860.00. Dave Michel seconded motion passed.

DiAnne Hewitt motioned to pay claims checks #19166-19182 in the amount of $41,040.71. Check #19163-19165 for Consumer Deposit refunds/claims. (see warrant register) Dave Michel seconded; motion carried.

Alex Wirt moved to adjourn the meeting. Dave Michel seconded; motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
