CITY OF REPUBLIC MAY 19, 2008 REGULAR MEETING

Those present: Mayor Shirley A. Couse. Council Members: Linda Hall, Jim Burnside, DiAnne Hewitt and Dave Michel and Alex Wirt.

Guests Present were: Bruce McAuley and Brenda Starkey.

Mayor Couse called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with the pledge of allegiance.

Council reviewed the May 5, 2008 minutes. DiAnne Hewitt moved to approve the May 5, 2008 minutes. Linda Hall seconded; motion carried. Council reviewed the May 15, 2008 Special Meeting minutes. Dave Michel moved to approve the May 15, 2008 Special Meeting minutes. Alex Wirt seconded; motion carried.

Mayor Couse updated Council on the legal opinions on the PDA’s CERB grant and asked Council to approve a letter of support in the PDA’s behalf for acquiring the CERB grant. Linda Hall moved to approve a letter of support for the PDA in the above stated matter. DiAnne Hewitt seconded; motion carried.

Council discussed the proposed Solid Waste Ordinance; the ordinance was tabled to the next meeting.

Clerk/Treasurer, Chris Stevens updated Council on the monument that will be set at the L.W. Dragnich Sports Complex, this monument will contain names of persons and businesses that helped to build and financially support the completion of the complex. DiAnne Hewitt moved to approve the purchase of the monument not to exceed $3,000.00. Linda Hall seconded; Alex Wirt abstained; motion carried.

Grant Administrator, Linda Hall presented the City of Republic’s Interlocal Agreement with the County on working from their Small Works Roster to Council and asked to have it approved as written. DiAnne Hewitt moved to approve the Interlocal Agreement with the County. Dave Michel seconded; motion carried.

Law Enforcement Administrator, Alex Wirt asked Council for approval for Officer Marcuson to attend a DV training in Colville, it is continuing education for prior trainings the cost is $25.00 to attend and for materials. DiAnne Hewitt moved to approve Officer Marcuson to attend the training in Colville along with the $25.00 attendance fee and per diem. Jim Burnside seconded; motion carried. Alex Wirt asked for approval for Mayor Couse to sign the OHV Nova project grant. Linda Hall moved for Mayor Couse to sign the OHV Nova project grant. Dave Michel seconded; motion carried.

Mayor Couse asked Council for approval for herself and Linda Hall to attend the AWC’s Annual Conference and carry the Republic City Flag in the Parade of Flags. DiAnne Hewitt moved to approve Mayor Couse and Linda Hall to attend the above stated conference. Jim Burnside seconded; motion carried.

Council reviewed Building Permit #’s 2008-10 through 2008-14.

Dave Michel moved to approve grant/project payments check #736 & 737 in the amount of $11,203.92. Jim Burnside seconded; motion carried.

Alex Wirt moved to approve payroll checks #102889-102895 in the amount of $3,360.00. Dave Michel seconded; Linda Hall abstained; motion carried.

DiAnne Hewitt moved to pay claims checks #19560-19579 in the amount of $24,989.67. Claims check #196557 through #19559 for Consumer Deposit refunds/claims. (See warrant register) Dave Michel seconded; motion carried.

DiAnne Hewitt moved to adjourn the meeting. Dave Michel seconded; motion carried.
