CITY OF REPUBLIC Aug. 3, 2009 REGULAR MEETING

Those present: Mayor Shirley A. Couse. Council Members: DiAnne Hewitt, Jim Burnside and Alex Wirt.

Guests Present were: Larry Heming, Steve Pasion, Linell Harvey and Brenda Starkey.

Employees Present were: Joy Culp.

Mayor Couse called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Council reviewed the July 20, 2009 minutes. Alex Wirt moved to approve the July 20, 2009 minutes. DiAnne Hewitt seconded, motion carried.

Linell Harvey spoke with Council about a water leak at two of her rentals. She asked Council if there was any way they could help her out with the water bill by reducing the amount. Council stated that it was water that had been used even though it was a leak and that she was responsible for the bill. Linell also stated that the meter at a different rental had been misread. Thinking that there was a leak here as well, she sent her handyman to fix the leak. She has had to pay him $109.00 for time when there wasn’t a leak since it was a misread and asked Council to be reimbursed for the money that she put out for him. Alex Wirt moved to reimburse Linell for $109.00 as soon as she presents a bill. Jim Burnside seconded, discussion followed; motion carried.

Steve Pasion from the US Censes Bureau updated Council on the upcoming 2010 censes. Steve handed out pamphlets to the Council. Council reviewed the Mayor’s Proclamation for the censes. Alex Wirt motioned for Mayor Couse to sign the proclamation. DiAnne Hewitt seconded, discussion followed; motion carried.

Clerk Treasurer Margo Sattler stated that Toni Nelson had recommended that herself (Margo) and Joy Culp attend a 3 day workshop on Budgeting in Leavenworth, WA on August 5, 6 & 7 and asked permission to attend. DiAnne Hewitt moved for Margo and Joy to attend the 3 day workshop in Leavenworth. Jim Burnside seconded, discussion followed; motion carried.

Alex Wirt stated that he was unable to obtain an extension on the OHV grant that had expired but would be put on the list for next year.

DiAnne Hewitt updated the Council on the deer issue.

Council reviewed letters received into and sent from City Hall.

Council reviewed building permit #2009-12.

Council reviewed a street vacation request that has been in the process for a few years.

DiAnne Hewitt motioned to approve payroll checks #20525 -20543 in the amount of $30,845.31. Alex Wirt seconded; motion carried.

Alex Wirt motioned to approve claims checks #20544 – 20566 in the amount of $12,601.03. Jim Burnside seconded; motion carried.

DiAnne Hewitt moved to adjourn the meeting. Jim Burnside seconded; motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
